Periodontal Care

At Compassionate Dentistry, one of our goals is to help keep your teeth and gums healthy for life through compassionate, professional, and consistent care. As part of this goal, we provide periodontal treatment so you can avoid the dangers of periodontal (gum) disease. Gum disease begins when plaque and calculus build up on the teeth and gums. The bacteria from the calculus and plaque destroy the gums, bone, and teeth over time, resulting in lost permanent teeth. When left untreated, periodontal disease bacteria can also get into the blood stream through the gum pockets it has created. This is why periodontal disease has been linked to increased risk for:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Depression
  • Pregnancy complications
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack

We are proud to provide deep cleanings, known as scaling and root planing, to help you avoid the risks associated with periodontal disease. If you notice gums that are red, swollen, or prone to bleeding, contact our office immediately to receive the care you need. Together we can help you and your family achieve optimal oral health for life!
